Windows Media Player 9.0 and Nero

Getting fatal exception errors when burning CDs using Nero 5.0.3.5. BSOD occurs when you press the final button to start burning. Following the topic on WMP 9.0 and InCd have tracked the problem down to WMP9.0 - if I uninstall it everything is okay. Alternatively, don't put the CD in until AFTER you after asked it to burn (thank my daughter for this!!) and it works most of the time.

Would really like to run WMP9 and Nero (although in a fight WMP will lose - I need Nero for my business) and would appreciate any help.

Running Win98SE in a fairly bog standard machine with hard disk as master on IDE 0, standard CDROM as slave on IDE 0 and CDRW on IDE 1 as master. also running InCD (but disabling it via msconfig makes no difference to whether Nero works). InCD appears to work but I very rarely use it (just put a CDRW in now to see if I can find a version number - but can't).

regards

Andy

One alternative: remove WMP9, install the Media 9 Codec only, and use the older Windows Media Player or use Media Player Classic (a program I really, really miss on Linux)...

I've used Win2K & WinXP with Media Player Classic+WM9 Codec, plus both Nero 5.5 & 6.0, w/o any problems. MPC is not a MS product, BTW...

I installed Nero 6 & InCD, then WMP 9 and have not had any trouble at all.

XP home. Nero 6. InCD 4.x WMP9 installed from CD (MS Flight Sim 2004).
