DVD-Rom and DVD-writer not recognised

I already used Nero (5.5.10), which worked fine. Now I also installed InCD (latest update) and my DVD-rom (MSI) and DVD-writer (Nec ND1300a) are not recognised anymore. What's wrong and how to solve this problem?

Did you ever have Roxio software installed on your system?

This is normally caused by filters in the Lower and Upper filters. You can use our Registry Checker utility to remove these conflicting filters, and this would normally resolve your issue. Use the below link to obtain this utility from the Nero Website.

No, it is installed on a new machine (on my previous PC I did have the Easy CD creator problem).

Are you getting an error message of any kind? I had a MSI Cd burner that InCD4 apparently did not like. I would get an error message when I tried to format, although it did seem to see the drive. I installed a DVD burner just like your model, and it seems to be working fine with it.

Nothing at all, InCD showed only the icon an the DVD-rom and DVD-writer have disappeared in Explorer.

Use the Registry Checker program as suggested.

If you still have trouble, uninstall our software using the Nero Clean Tool. This removes most registry changes created by our software.

If that still fails to resolve your issue, then use a free registry cleaner, which you can find by going to www.google.com and searching for registry cleaners, to remove any possible remanents of our software. And if you still have issues, then the problem lies elsewhere, and not with our software.

Is it possible that the conflict is due to using Nero 5.5 with the newest version of InCD (4) ? Try installing the demo version of Nero 6 or going back to InCD 3. That might help to resolve the conflict.

Craig,

I used the tools you recommended and it worked! Thank you very much (though I still do not understand why it went wrong...).
Thanks for the help.
