Question re Nero 6.
I recently purchased this product which is identified on the retail box as Nero 6. I now see there is a Nero 6 "Ultra Edition" and just wondering if there are any changes/differences that were added to the Ultra Edition?
Thanks.

Thanks for info. NeroVision was included with the program I have.
Purchased this program in Canada, so I beginning to think maybe they package things differently up here.
Thanks again.

This was gone over some time back with Nero 6 was first released.
Basicly we have to versions.
Nero 6 Ultra Editino for USA/Canada/and Mexico that contains the NeroMix program.
And
Nero 6 for European and other countries that contains Nero Media Player instead of NeroMix.
Those are the only real differences.

Craig

Craig, would you mind explaining how the 2 are differentiated?
by the serial key?

I assume you mean by Naming Scheme.
The US/Mexico/Canada build is referred too as 'Nero 6 Ultra Edition'.
The European Build is referred too as 'Nero 6'
You can see this when you go to
www.nero.com/us versus
www.nero.com/de
You will see one refers to Nero 6 Ultra Edition, and the other refers to Nero 6.

no.
what i had meant was:
i purchased Nero 6 (upgrade from 5.5). how do i know if what i have is Nero 6 or Nero 6 Ultra?
as i understand it, if i download Nero/NerVision/InCD etc. from nero.com/us (american site) or nero.com/en (european site), these download files are identical. so once i enter my serial key, what will i have Nero 6 or Nero 6 Ultra?
basically what i'm asking is which will work for me: Nero Media Player or NeroMIX ?
my guess is that this is determinated by the serial key. am i correct ?

Yes, this is determined by the Serial key. And the only difference between the two is the NeroMix program.
Also the naming scheme. For instance, when you go to Launch our software for Nero 6 Ultra Edition, you would go to
Start->Programs->Nero->Nero 6 Ultra Edition
Versus the European version which would go
Start->Programs->Nero->Nero 6

Craig

i was wondering if you could say what's the difference? first digit or something? i mean just by looking at my serial can i tell if it's the Nero 6 or Nero 6 Ultra (haven't installed it yet)?
(or is this a little to sensitive info to be posted on the 'net???)

To be Honest, I do not know. I've only worked with serial keys for Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I've never had a need to install the Nero 6 European version.
I would assume that there is a noticeable difference, but what it is I could not say. I quick query to our counter parts in Germany, on the Tech side, brought the same response. We're both sure there is a differences, but only those who generate the serial key know what they might be. They all seem to begin with the same or similar 4 digits. That's all I know without contacting the sales team in Germany.

Craig

hmmm... I just purchased what was supposed to be the retail Nero 6 Ultra Edition from an online software shop... Turns out that they sent me the European build since the box is labeled only as Nero 6. There was shrink wrap around the box with a sticker that said 'Nero Ultra Edition' but it is apparantly not since it includes Nero Media Player and not NeroMIX. I am located in the US and so is the software store. The US retail version also includes the Lame mp3 encoder free while apparantly this version I have does not. I have also noticed that whenever I got to the Nero web site, I get not the US site, but a different english site.

I was going to contact Ahead, but the store could possibly be at fault as well... Either way, I will try and contact both of them to see what is up... thanks...

some more wierdness....
I was able to successfully burn two DVD+RW discs with the Demo version of Nero... now with this version that I have, I can't even burn a DVD+R disc anymore... I updated to the latest versions of Nero (6.3) and I get a message about using 'Illegal Media' just as Nero starts to burn the disc...

Is this a media problem? It is the same brand of media that I was able to successfully burn before... Also, I can't get any Disc Info at all from Blank DVD+R or DVD+RW discs... CD-R discs and other DVDs seem to all work ok...

Turns out it was the store's fault. Their supplier mislabeled the boxes... they are going to refund my money...
Now, is there any way to revert back to the demo version? I tried a reinstall, but the serial number I entered seems to stick...
