nero 6 burner problem

Hi,
am new to the forum,so hope this is posted in the right area. I have nero 6 and running windows xp but am having problems burning cd's.It reads the data fine no problem but when it comes to writing that information it gets to about 3% of the lead-in and then the red light goes out comes back on and then stops and I get an error message saying burn failed - power callibration error.
It was suggested I disable the Imapi setting which initially helped and i was able to burn 1 cd no problem but now I am getting the same problem again. It seemed to write to a rewriteable cd ok but not a standard CDr.Someone else suggested updating the BIOS but didn't say what to and where to go.I had a look at the properties of BIOS but not sure what if anything in there should be changed?Should the change(if any) be made under the ''compatability'' setting?
Hope someone can help:)
Thanks:)

Which discs are you using? I'd suggest getting some better media, as a power-calibration error normally indicates crappy discs.

Hi again

The motherboard is an ABIT BH6 V1.02.

I'm assuming that the IDE drivers are installed under WIN XP

Cheers

If you go to the Ahead website at www.nero.com, you will find an FAQ section that has informatino on possible solutions to the Power Calibration error message.

There are a number of possible causes, and you'll need to go through each possible solution to find the one that will address your issue.

Hi,
all seems ok now.I did go to the Ahead site and contacted them,a few days later they responded with a few possible solutions.
In the end we put in a slightly faster writer and have made sure not to use Imation brand cd's.
