On the fly DVD copying - Nero wants to run with simulation

I'm running Nero 6.3.1.10. I used to run on the fly DVD to DVD copies with no problem. Lately I have noticed everytime I want to run on the fly copies I get a message that states "since this is the first time I am running at this speed, it will run it with simulation". Or something to that effect. This messge appears every time, even after I have run several on the fly copies with simulation at the same speed. Any ideas what may be wrong?

This could be caused by the fact that our software does not know the capabilities of your source CDROM or DVDROM drive. Try launching Nero Burning ROM and go to Extras->Auto Detect CD/DVD-ROM drive and allow our software to determine the drives read speeds and extraction speeds.

Then try and do a Copy operation and see if this occurs still.

Craig

Thanks for the tip. I'll try it after work.

I don't understand why the Autodetect function in the Extras menu is greyed out. Any ideas?

I guess because both my combo drive and the DVD-RW drive are already detected, the Autodetect menu is grayed out. Instead in the DVD copy window, I unchecked the "Write" and "Simulation" check boxes and only checked the "Dtermine Maximum Speed" box. After a message let me know that I can copy at 4X.
