Nero and filenames with kanji characters

I have some files that are named with Japanese characters. I'm using win2k SP4, and windows explorer views the filenames properly. However, the filenames are truncated when viewed in Nero's filebrowser(all the kanji characters are cut, replaced by DOS style name: -something-~1), and I cannot drag-n-drop the files to the compilation site. Nero gives an error "File/Folder cannot be accessed." Installing and changing to the Japanese language pack doesn't help either. Can anybody help me?

That worked perfectly! :) Thanks cfitz.

There's some complications though. Explorer would show ":\" as "#" So my "C:\" becomes "C#" Also, protected CDs that I have burned with a program called CD-Lock cannot recognize the password anymore. Everything returns to normal once I set windows to English(US).

You're welcome. And yes, it does convert the whole system. But other than a few annoyances (such as displaying the Japanese Yen currency symbol instead of the backslash, as you found) the changes are generally benign. And if you do run into a problem you can easily revert back.
