DVD-R data failed...??
Posted: Sun Aug 15, 2004 1:12 pmCan someone tell me how to burn a DVD data disc? I've been racking my brain and computer over this for the past two weeks. Here are my specs:
P4 3Ghz HT
Asus P4P800 Deluxe
1Gb Cosair 3200 RAM
120GB HDD
Sony DRU-500A DVD burner
LiteOn SOHW-832S burner
This is what happened. I tried to backup my data just by using Nero Burning Rom originally using my Sony DRU-500A with Verbatim 2x DVD-R media. Setting on DVD (UDF/ISO). But whenever it's almost done or close to writing the leadout, it fails. Funny thing is I can read the contents of the disc even when Nero reports the failure. However, when I tried using DVD+RW media, it burned no problems. I thought it was my Sony drive dying on me, so I decided to buy the LiteOn. Problem is that the same thing still happens. Mind you I've had no probs authoring and burning DVD videos on both -R and +R media on both drives (and their rewritable versions). I'm guessing that I won't have problems writing to +R media for data. Anyone has a workaround for the -R media? I've got 100 -R discs that I don't only want to use for videos.
