Backitup compression and verify problem ???

I used Backitup to perform a system partition backup to dvd+r. Popups told me that compression could not be used and verification might fail since I was backing up the system drive. The backup took 6 dvd+r to backup the partition that had 16gb of 25 gb used. 2 of the 6 discs failed verification.

Is this normal or is there a way to get compression and verification to work on the windows partition?

Does backitup backup the empty space on the drive?

Is there a way to make sure that I have a viable backup short of restoring it to another hard drive?

Will the nrestore program fit the restoration to a smaller or larger partition?

Thanks for any clarification

I don't know about back-it-up but Roxio stopped supporting Take-Two and removed it from their software because it did not work properly. I don't think you can back up a partition that is running under Windows because things are always changing (disk writes). I have sucsessfully used Norton Ghost to acomplish what you are trying to do. It does not run under windows, it runs uder PC DOS. You can get Norton System Works Pro 2003 (it includes Ghjost) for around $20 from Newegg.com. I think Drive Image is another good back up program. This was recently purchased by Symantec (Norton) so I do not know if they will continue to update Ghost. I hope so because it is a good program.
