Nero 6.6.0.1 overburning problem.

Hello!
AFAIK Nero had some problems with overburning recently. It seems they're back. ^^
Nero NEVER EVER prompts me for writing an overburn CD (of course I've checked the relevant options). It simply states that the CD is too small and *plop* ejects it...
I AM sure that my CD-RW Drive (and, for that matter, Nero =) is capable of overburning, since I've already burned around 30 overburned VCDs with it. Now the fun has stopped for me. :-\
Anyone has a similar problem?

What model recorder do you have? My tests show overburning working for a number of model recorders.

Well - a Yamaha CRW2100S (SCSI). But wait a second. How can my recorder be the problem, when, like I've already told you, I have burned many, many overburned CDs with it. All with earlier versions of Nero for that matter. And to make sure, I have set OverSizeDefaultValue to "1" in the registry so that Nero enables its overburning features even if it doesn't recognize my CD-Writer. Well - if it didn't, then I would have a greyed-out checkbox in the Expert feaures tab, wouldn't I? This is not the case. I simply don't get any confirmation dialogs to even TRY to overburn something.

Hi Lim-Dul,

I don't remember anyone blaming your recorder. :D

I simply stated my findings on various recorders I have tested. Which is why I asked what model recorder you have, so that I can test with that.

It's possible that our software stopped supporting your specific drive in regards to overburning, and not other models. I won't know till I have tested it, which I will now do since you supplied the model you are working with.

But we must keep an open mind till all the test results come in. I'll let you know what I find.

Regards,

Craig

Hi Lim-Dul,

Looks like you are right, we do have an issue with Overburning, regardless of the model recorder being used. I've only tested on XP so far, but I'm sure it applies to other operating system.

I've created a bug report on this issue.

Craig
