Installation error upgrading to Nero 6.6

I have a problem trying to install any new Nero package update. Eg. Nero 6.6 and the latest Nero Vision Express package.

Half-way through either package installation, I get a fatal error reported from NeroWebEngine.

I have successfully tried installing the previous version of Nero (6.3.something).

I have Win XP Pro, SP2.

I have posted a message to Ahead tech support, and got an automated reply saying they were looking into it, but that was almost a week ago now.

Any ideas?

Attempting to Uninstal kept crashing too! I have restarted in Safe mode and managed to uninstall everything.

I still cannot install Nero 6.6.0.1, getting the NeroWebEngine error half way through the installation.

Sounds like a corrupted Nero download or CD.

I would recommend downloading a fresh copy of Nero 6 and see if this resolves your issue.

If not, test on another computer to see if the issue is only occuring on the one system. This will help us isolate the issue.

Craig

I tried downloading the updates again, and the same thing occurs.

I tried uninstalling everything, using Nero Clean, and reinstalling the original versions, but this now raises the error too.

Either some common library has changed recently (XP SP2?), or the latest update has installed something that Nero Clean doesn't remove.

I haven't got another machine to install the software on.

Problem solved/gone away.

I tried uninstalling all Nero packages again. I thought that possibly last time I didn't remove Nero Burn Rights.

I also downloaded all nero clean tools I could find (including nero 5 and 6 clean, nero driver clean, etc), ran them and rebooted.

The new version now installs okay.

Phew!
