Since the release of Nero 6.6.0.3 I have been having problems burning DVD's. After extensive testing I am convinced the problem is caused with this new version.

This is the log file generated after the burn fails:

This error happens when I try to do a DVD disc to disc copy. I have e-mailed Ahead about the problem but I'm not sure if this is system specific or a flaw in version 6.6.0.3. If anyone is able to validate this error with their system I'm sure it would help expedite a fix from Ahead. Thank you.

Yes disc to disc copy is broken on 6.6.0.3.
It's reported by several users.

Go back to 6.6.0.1.

Ok thanks, wasn't sure if it had been verified by other users.

Apparently Ahead is unaware of the problem. This is the reply I received from them after reporting the problem.

Dear valued Xx Xxxxxxx,

thank you for your email and your interest in our software.

Nero is able to copy DVDs which are not copy protected and which are 4.7GB in size such as is supported by DVDR or DVDRW media.
(Important Note: Most DVD Videos that you can buy or rent are bigger than 4.7GB and they are, for the most part, copy protected.)

To find step by step directions on how to copy a DVD, and more, just use the below link.

Should you wish more information, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

best regards

Hello Everyone,

Thanks to this forum and others, we are aware of the problem, and found that this occurs with some Drives and not others. We have found the problem, and we have already resolved.

Problem:
We found the issue here.
DVD-copy from DVD-Rom drives that do not support ReadTrackInformation comand
is actually broken, as the tracklength will not be analysed correctly.
Fixed by re.implenting ReadCapacity command for such DVD-Rom drives.

Regards,

Craig

Thanks for the quick fix!!! I actually started looking for another DVD drive (Newegg.com etc) when I found out the problem was specific to certain DVD drives. Is there a work around until a fix is released? Thanks again.

Hy Skypx,

I'll have to see if there is a quick patch we can provide, or if this is a major change requireing a full build.

Regards,

Craig

No problem. I forgot to mention the file needs to be extracted to the nero folder.

I have been trying to resolve this one for about a week thanks! I have also been in contact with Nero support but they had not offered the .dll yet.

Any idea when this will be an "official" release?

Thanks alot.
