Cannot use Neromix / No unlimited mp3?

I just bought Nero 6 Ultra Edition, and everything installed properly, but Neromix will not accept my serial number. I tried removing then adding serial number from Smartstart, and it didn't work. Then, I tried cleaning and re-installing. Still no go. In fact, I can't even enter demo mode for Neromix, as it tells me it's expired. I sent an email to Ahead tech support, but thought someone here might be able to help while I wait for them to get back to me.

Also, I thought I was supposed to get unlimited mp3 ripping with the edition I bought (it's even printed on the CD just below "Dolby 5.1." Now I see Ahead offers a plug-in for $20. Did something change? Of course, I can't test it since I can't get into Neromix...

Any help? Thanks in advance!
Seth

The Nero 6 Ultra Edition suite offers unlimited MP3Lame encoding, but when you first attempt to use this encoder, it will require that you register the encoder.

We also provide a 30 time trial period for the Fraunhofer MP3/mp3PRO encoder. And this is the one you must purchase a plugin for unlimited encoding, if you find that MP3Lame does not meet all your needs.

As for NeroMix not installing, are you installing from the Nero 6 Ultra Edition CD, or are you installing from a webdownload?

If you are installing from the CD, it should obtain the serial key from the registry, as when you first go to install Nero 6 from the CD, it will ask you for a Serial key and Name.

Have you tried to use the Nero CLean tool to uninstall Nero programs from your system, then reboot and try a fresh install from the Nero 6 installation CD?

Neromix won't register

Craig,

Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate the answer regarding MP3Lame.

As for Neromix, I've tried everything. I tried installing from both CD and web, using the clean tools each time. I've tried removing the serial key from SmartStart and then retyping it. Still, no go. One interesting this is that the Serial Key from the back of my sealed Ultra disk is recognized by SmartStart as an "Enterprise" Key, not anything relating to "Ultra" -- I'm not sure how it's supposed to look.

Any other suggestions? Everything else registers without a problem when I install from the CD or web download. Neromix, however, just brings up the Serial Key prompt, and won't accept the same key (the register button remains greyed out).

I've never had any problems registering previous Nero products. This one's a head-scratcher for me.

I appreciate any other help you can provide.
Seth

It should not report as an enterprise key.

I hope our printers did not make a mistake. :(

Could you send me an Email at techsupport4@nero.com, and include your serial key and a short history of your issue, so that I know who I'm talking too. :)

And I'll test the serial key to see if it's the correct one. If it's not, then I'll have to generate a new one for you, and try and find out how many Retail boxes were affected by mis-prints.

Regards

Craig

I'm pretty sure I sent you an email yesterday (I used that email address -- seeing it in another response, and thinking it was a general support address), and received an automated response. That message had my name, serial key, and brief description too. However, I am more than happy to resend another message when I get home this afternoon, and I will scan the back of my disk jacket so you see the Ultra information.

Thank you so much for your willingness to assist. You do a great service to your product and company by providing support in these forums.

Hi Seth,

Looks like you found a problem we were not aware of. #-o

Our printers somehow printed a batch of incorrect serial keys for our US Retail market. At least I hope it's only the US Retail market. :)

For anyone else who finds they are unable to install NeroMix, and when they launch the Nero StartSmart and under the 'Nero Product Center' the serial key reports as Nero Enterprise Edition, these are the steps you need to take to resolve your issue.

1) Scan in the receipt (Proof of purchase)
2) Provide the current 'Nero Enterprise Edition' Serial key you are using
3) Send an EMail to Techsupport@nero.com and request that you be provided with a replacement Nero 6 Ultra Edition Serial key.

Note: Once you are provided with a new Serial key, your 'Nero Enterprise Edition' serial key will be "BlackListed". Which means upon the next posted upgrade on the Nero Web Site, that serial key will no longer be accepted.

Sorry for the trouble this may have caused anyone.

Best Regards,

Craig
