I am using 16x DVD+R but Nero is only detecting my burner as being 4x max, It says it under info when I chose a recorder and in the record dialogue, I am using 16x Media. I already tried reinstalling it and rebooting windows several times, at a loss :(

Thanks for your help :)

Well, mine (either under Info Tool or Nero Burning Rom) is always default to diplaying the MAX speed of the 48X CD speed, untill a blank DVD disc is inserted then Nero would show the actual DVD burning speed, usually "8X with this burner" as I only use 8x media.

Your is showing 4X, maybe that particular disc/brand can only do 4X with your burner? have you tried other brand of disc?

To see what your drive can do according to Nero products, you should not insert any media, because then you will see what the drive can do with this media and not what it can physically.

What media? If you're using media unsupported by the drive, the max writing speed will be only 4x.

So how do you see what the drive is capable of doing without inserting a blank media? (other than reading the specs off the box or the user manual).

Yeah it turns out it is my RiData media, even though it is 16x media supposedly it will only burn @ 4x.

However even with no media in nero only detects the burner as 6x.

I managed to get this media to burn @ 16X!

I just used a hacked firmware from
http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/

That page has a whole bunch of modded firmware, I used:
LD3520 1.U6 (Beta 6) (Liggy & Dee NEC ND-3520A firmware)
http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/LD3520_1U6.zip

I tested it with the new 16x limit and it works like a charm!

At 4x I burned a disk with a few video files that added up to 4.2gigs, took about 18 minutes , I burned the same disk over again with the new hacked firmware and it was 6 minutes even :) I played some of the videos and none of them had any trouble loading, everything is perfect, I am very happy.
