CD Speed Scrambled Sector Error With DVD-R Discs

I'm finishing up my testing on the Pioneer DVR-A09 and I've run into an odd error. When reading back the DVD-R discs the drive burned with my Lite-On 166S, I'm getting a "scrambled sector" error. This is the same error you get if you tried reading a CSS protected DVD-Vid without unlocking it first. The dumb thing is, this is a not a protected DVD movie. It's a copy of a Data DVD-ROM.

The image is burned with Nero. I've tried 6.6.0.6 and 6.6.0.8a with the same results.

I should also add that the Lite-On 166S is the only drive having problems with these discs so far. They're readable in other drives. The 166S will read DVD-R discs burned by other drives, so its a Pioneer problem so far.

I got that error once when tried to burn a Princo 4x DVD-R at 8x, also with a 166S drive.

I'm just wondering if its an issue with the 166S.. or that the Pioneer is not doing something correctly. I'm leaning towards the later right now.

Sounds like the problems alot of people have been having with the dvr-A09/109. Discs burned cannot be read in Lite-On DVD drives. Firmware 1.40 somewhat official firmware for 109's fixed the issue.

Firmware 1.40 for A09 & 109 is now available at Pioneer Europe.
