What could be the problem?

When I make an audio CD & play the compilation in my car or at home, starting at the begining, the CD will start playing right away. If I jump to track 7 ot higher it takes quite a while for it to start playing. Almost sounds like the deck is searching where the start of the track is, but is having trouble finding it.
I have ruled out the problem with my car deck as I borrowed a home made compilation CD and it would start playing right away regardless of which track I entered.
I am using Nero 6 with all the latest updates. My CD burner is a Lite On LTR. I am using TDK CDR & always burn at the slowest speed (8X).
Two possible problems that I can think of that are causing this. The burner or the software. Has anyone encountered a problem like this?
I don't want to buy another burner if that's not my problem.

we need a more exact model number then LTR, theres going to be numbers followed after the LTR part, like ltr-48125w

in my expertise you can never go wrong with TY cd media, ive used them ever since my first cd-rw drive which was a litey ltr-48125w, which i still have in an old machine
