Using Gigarec with Nero 6.6.0.16

Ok, I feel like an idiot. I am trying to combine a 2 disc concert CD into one disc. It's like 83 minutes, so I figured this is a perfect job for my PX716 and Gigarec. I am using Fuji (TY) 48X 700mb CDR media (at least I think it's 48X, it might be 32X, it's old stock). I am using Plextools 2.25, and enabled Gigarec at the 1.2 setting (smallest available), which should give me 96:43 burn time.

When I try to burn in Nero, it tells me that the disc is too small and to insert a larger disc (it says 700mb free). I went into Preferences, allowed a 95 minute overburn, and told it to do a short-lead out. Now I can start the burn, but after it warns me I am overburning by 2 minutes, it says there is an "invalid field in parameter" error and stops. No burning is done to the disc.

This is the first time I've tried Gigarec, is it picky on media? Should I be trying a different disc? (I am trying to use TY media for best quality burns) I'm a bit confused why this isn't working and what really simple thing I am missing...

Thanks..

I think you would need to burn from within plextools for gigarec to work. Most special funtions only work from within plextools.

i'm not sure that's true.
i think Nero supports the GigaRec feature.
but it's a good idea to check first if it does work from PlexTools. if so then the drive is fine and it's a software problem.

which version of Nero are you using ?

I forgot about this post.. :)

Yeah, it did work fine from within PlexTools. I had never used PT for burning before so I forgot to even try it..! So the drive is fine...

It's Nero 6.6.0.16... it supports Varirec from Nero, so I thought anything not supported within Nero would just automatically be passed in from PT. Maybe that explains why some stuff I used with 0.8x Gigarec didn't seem any different... ;) ;)
