How not to be left with an open session?

I have been successfully burning multisession data DVDs without problem. Recently I started a multisession DVD and the burn was without errors. However when I wanted to add a second session I found that the first session was left open and therefore nothing more could be added.
I tried the same again and this time the first session was closed properly. The second session burn was also without errors however it was left open.

What is happening that sessions are being left open? How do I (get back to) burn cleanly?

What OS are you using?
Win9x/Me do not support multi-session DVD's.
Also only DVD+R support multi-session.

open Nero, click on the disc info button. if i'm not mistaken, in the window that opens up with the disc info there should be a button to close the last session.

I'm using WinXP SP1 and all multisession DVDs created to date were without problem i.e. hardware and software all worked.

As for closing the session, that does not really worry me as I have all the data. What I need to know is how to create disks without leaving sessions open.

Hi Michaels,

I would be very interested in seeing the log file created by Nero. We do not allow a session to remain 'Open', all sessions are closed by default.

Craig

this is a log of when you tried to burn again to the open disc. not the log the made the open disc.
17:55:00 PM #6 Phase 167 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1730
Not able to write Disc-at-once on an open disc.

in the future i recommend you cut out your serial number from the logs you post on public forums

Dodecahedron is correct.

If you send me the NeroHistory.log file to my Techsupport4@nero.com email account, I can go over it to see what occured. It will have a history of your last few write attempts.

Or you can post here if you want, just edit out the serial key, and any portion of the log that does not pertain to the session that created the first disc with an open session.

Craig
