Nero, My Biggest Complaints

PostPosted: Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:02 pm

I'm running Nero 6.6.? and mostly burning data DVD's in +R and -R.

Two main complaints I have with Nero:
  1. To enter the disc title I have to go the 2nd screen to type in the title, then back to the 1st screen, where it now shows the title correctly.
  2. Nero doesn't have a standard Windows Save As ability. To create a "near identical" project, I have to make a copy of the Nero file in Explorer, rename it, open it, make my changes and resave. PITA!!!

Are there and work arounds for the above?

In fairness to Nero, it seems to do an excellent job of burning.

1. i'm not sure i understand what you mean by '1st' and '2nd' screen, but if i do:
in the '1st' screen, highlight the compilation name and either right-click and choose Rename, or F2.

2. File -> Save as !
or F12.

dodecahedron,

I must be doing something wrong. My header says Nero Express, your screenshots say: Nero Burning ROM. How do I get where you are?

Many thanks,
Hermit

^You have to have a full version of Nero,OEM(that come with writers) versions only come with Express.

Will this Nero 6.6 get me there or is this also Nero Express? I clicked on the upgrade link within Express, Nero wants ~$55 for Ultra 7. I just need to burn data DVD's.

workabouts in Nero Express:

1. if you click the button to the right of the disc title (right-most button) it turns on/off the file tree. turn it on and then you have a window that looks more like Nero Burning ROM's, and like in my previous post highlight the compilation name, it's at the top of the tree, and either right-click or F2.

2. in the same (1st) screen, you can save the compilation (.nri file), click the Save button and give a new filename to make another copy of the comilation.

i think that's the solutions to what you wanted.

the link you gave - from the description it sounds like the full Nero, but the disc in the picture says OEM Suite - that would be Express... anyway $5 sounds fishy to me for the full Nero.

dodecahedron,

The workabouts, WORK!!! =D>

I think your DVD Burning ROM is slicker, I'll pop for $5 and post back what I get for my Jefferson.

Big thank you, only wish I'd asked a year ago. :)

BTW, your screenshots look unusual, what OS are you running? Is that Vista? Never seen a top-bottom gradient, only left-right.

If you look behind the text of Nero Burning ROM, there is a dark-to-light gradient. I'm accustom to a left-to-right gradient on the Windows title bar. I looked for the Silver theme in my themes list, not there. Perhaps you downloaded silver. I like it. :)

21st Hermit, the Silver style is built into WindowsXP, i didn't download anything.
like burninfool said, you have to select Windows XP style, not Windows Classic style.

Sorry, I took you too literal. I looked for a Silver Theme, not an XP Theme in silver color.

I did try the silver, the top bar heights are greater than Classic, so I'm back at classic.

Thanks for all the help. :)

21st Hermit, i totally agree. those thick title-bars are awful!
go to where burninfool showed you, click the Advanced button, in the Item pull-down menu choose Active title bar, and select the smallest possible size - 18.
