Unable to figure out how to make a ISO image for a bootable

I'm trying to make a bootable CD from O/S files in a folder on my HDD. This is a 'Lite' version of XP Corp (stripped of the bloat).
I use Nero V6.6 and for the life of me I can't figure out how to make a iso file to burn to a CD.

I did this before (a few years ago) but can't figure it out. A couple other programs allow making a iso file from a CD, but not from files on a HDD.

i can't figure out what it is you want to accomplish.

you want to make a bootable Windows CD, to boot into a Windows running off the CD ???
i don't know if that's possible.

you want to make a bootable CD ?
if so check out these sites:

If you want a "lite" XP, use http://www.nliteos.com.

It'll make the ISO for you (which Nero can burn), remove the junk you don't want/need, slipstream in drivers, and even slipstream in alot of software, plus allow you to tweak a bunch of settings, like disabling system restore, classic theme, etc.

Incredible little program...I'd be lost without. Cuts my "reformat-reinstall everything" phase to about 10 minutes :)

and I can't figure what is what with these additional filed needed. I just want to make a bootable CD and a folder for furture copies.

Thanks for that. I will check it out. It looks as this might be the "cats meow". :o
I just noticed it requires that damn NET Framework. I don't have or want that. I see there is a subsistute. Without making it a separate subject, what the hell is this damn NET Framework? More M$ bloat!
Why is it needed??

Actually, you don't need .NET.

Go to the download section & get the runtimes...it'll install JUST what's needed to run nLite, & only install it in the nLite folder...

as far as i understand, nLite makes a bootable Windows installation CD.
a stripped down Windows, yes, but still that's what it makes. no?

is that what videobruce wants? i still can't figure out what it is he's trying to do. still no clarification.

He copied the XP cd files over to the hard drive & removed some things, and now want's to make a new, custom bootable CD from those files.

nLite basically automates that process, with alot of perks to boot.

And then some............... :o

correct me if i'm wrong, but what nLite does is create a bootable Windows installation CD.
you can boot it but once booted the only thing you can do is install Windows, or run the Console etc.
videobruce keeps saying "bootable CD" but doesn't explain exactly what he means by this.

What's to explain?? It's a "bootable" CD.................

Bootable; as in able to boot from the CD, in this case to load a O/S.

Do you want to boot from a CD and install Windows on the harddrive?

Or do you want to boot from a CD and run Windows from the CD without installing anything on the harddrive?

Those are very different goals and the methods to achieve those goals are also very different!

Yes.

But, as far as the CD being bootable, does it really matter if it is just to boot to the CD or load a O/S from the CD?
