I have a problem that un-installing INCD fixes

Hi, I rarely use my Laptop's burner in order to extend its life. But lately I've noticed a constant problem where if I burn a CD on my Laptop with Nero the stuff I burn can't be seen. Finally upon uninstalling INCD the disk (a CD-R) was recognizable and I put 2-3 other disks believed to be coasters into the drive and then they all were perfectly readable. I just downloaded the latest version of InCD and installed it and bingo, same problem. I un-installed it and there was the data on the disks again.
Any ideas?
This is a Toshiba 1415-s115 Laptop, 2ghz Celeron, 500k mem, 60 gig 7200 rpm drive, and a Panasonic internal laptop drive 16x cd burner/DVD-Rom combo running Windows XP.
Also, for 2-3 years now if I burn a disk on my Plex PX-712 via a Cardbus adapter/Firewire connection I have to reboot and disconnect/reconnect the external Plex to read those disks which were just burned by the plex.
Thanks, Rich
