Resume Backup After Failure 7.5.1.1

I was backing up about 130GB at 16x (my mistake) and made it to the end of disc 15 of 16 TDK (Daxon) dvd-r's when it failed data verification, causing the whole back-up to fail.

It seems there should be a way to go back to the start of disc 15 and resume the back-up from there, rather than being obliged to ditch the whole thing (14 discs and about 3.5 hour) and start fresh.

Am I missing something? I'll be starting another back-up at 8x tonight and am confident I'll make it through.

But just in case, is there a way to resume a backup with a new disc rather than beig forcved to start from scratch?

Too bad Nero cannot make regular data discs burn that splits/spans files over multiple discs rather then doing a formal backup. I guess it is six of one half a dozen of the other. But it sure is easy in Roxio Creator Classic to just select the data and hit "burn." The little merge application for the split files that is placed on spanned/split file discs works like a charm.

Actually, we are implementing a new feature where if the backup fails on say disc 25 of 30, we will give you the option to try and reburn that last failed backup.

I thought this had already been implemented. I'll have to double-check that Task Tracker. IF its not there now, it will be soon.

I assume you were not promted if you wished to reburn that disc?

Craig

That will be a very customer friendly feature for sure!

It queried whether I wanted to start a new job. I'm doing another one as I write using Sony Accucore media at 8x. It's on the 1st disc so keep your fingers crossed!

BTW Nero appears able to cram the 132GB, uncompressed, on 16 DVD-R's while Roxio needed 31.

Thanks for your service here.

Well I only nade it to disk 11 of 16 and the data verification failed on disc# 12.

The program prmopted me to create a job for he remainder of the back-up. Upon entering "Yes" the program prompted me for my user name which is "administrator."

After entering "administrator" it prompted me for a passsword which I do not have/use on this unit. The program then reported, in effect, "back-up failed/not proper user name and password."

I'm sure you have already heard it all before about inflicting half-baked software on users to beta test at their expense.

Hmm,

Mine worked. I too have it set to Administrator without any password.

I'll retest on another system.

This could be an operating system bug. I use XP x64 and some things aren't as smooth as they would be on regular xp. I turned off data verification and just blasted the whole backup.

BTW the process percentage indicator is short by about 50%. It showed 100% when I was at 16 discs, but the back-up required 31, same as Roxio after all!

Thanks again for your service here. In fact it is the main reason I will stick with Nereo rather than return to "brand x."
