Problem converting files from camcorder (mini DVD)

Hi,

I'm having an issue trying to edit files that I have filmed with my camcorder (canon dc95 miniDVD). Using Nero Vision 4.9.7.2 I import the .vob files in order to create a DVD video file. When I go to "open file" I get a message that says:

"One or more VOB files that contain multiple segments can be imported as a single video if their video properties match.
Do you want to merge VOB segments into a single video if possible? (If you click No, each segment will be treated as an individual video.)"

The problem is that if I say yes, when I save the file the video is smooth but the audio is out of synch.

But if I say no, the file is diveded into short segments (about 13 seconds each) and between each segment there is a short quarter second pause with a blank screen.

My goal is to convert these files to .mpeg but exporting these files directly doesn't fix the problems mentioned above. I've found that if I create a DVD file the 13 second segments become merged and there is no more blank screen but there are problems with the transitions between segments (very jerky).

Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks in advance for the help.

Jeremy
