For the purposes of packet-writing and formatting writable media, Is InCD really needed in Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7?

If so, why for each OS?

Does InCD provide formats not supported by the native OS?

Windows XP can read discs formatted with UDF. I don't remember which UDF versions, but I'm guessing its not all.

I haven't checked Windows 7, but Vista does have some built in packet writing capabilities. I don't think it supports all UDF versions though.

Does not one have to disable the OS' packet-writing in order to use InCD?

I was hopiong that I could use ImgBurn on an OS that did not require InCD.

I've got Nero 6 and InCD in Windows 2000.

I have purchased Nero 7 (but cannot download the update, the icon is disabled). And I have Nero 9.

Have not yet played with packet-writing in Vista.
I intend to build an XP/Windows 7 system.

I dunno. I can't say that I've ever installed InCD under Vista or Windows 7. I usually just install Nero.

Have you installed InCD in XP.

I vaguely recall that requires disabling the XP packet=writing critter.
And, I would have to find out how to do that.

XP doesn't really packet write. It caches your files and then burns them all to disc in one shot. Anyway, here's our FAQ on how to disable it:
