large backup job

so i collected a 125 GB of stuff i downloaded and tested and organized and now its time to save it on dvdr.
i dont want to set up 27 individual burns.
i dont want to watch the burn app GUI for 27 "finished succesfully" click that off and then click "done" to get the thing to spit the disc.

thats dumb.

theres "EXPERT" features menu. why ADD some?

how about "continue" and "do not split files" or "best fit"

i tired using the
backitup (v4? )program.

its even DUMBER.

cannot select burn speed. just burn fails you at max speed so you gotta go buy the highest quality/speed rated media to use it.
installed the new version (10?) it allows burn speed but puts everthing in a proprietry continous single file form
which..i mean i have winrar if thats what i wanted i can use that to pick custom file size etc.

can someone point me to a program that will just give me a straight burn spanning across discs with no splitting
and min effort?
all i should have to do after starting this job is wait for the tray to tell me to change the disc and then go back to working on something else meanwhile.

If it's data you really want to keep, I would get an external (or even an additional internal) hard drive. Spanning 27 DVDs doesn't seem like a reliable backup method to me. If something happens to one disk (and it likely will), the whole set is useless. That said, Norton Ghost can backup partitions across multiple media. I think Nero and Roxio can do this too.

the point of the post was that i don't want a software that does a proprietary span.
i guess the term i want to use "synchronize to CD /DVD".
i never use synchronize before but what i want is windows readable files i can copy directly off of the discs to recreate the arrangemnt
they should burn to disc in the same form as the files are stored on the drive.
i'm not backing up OS's so ghost and roxio arent very good suggestions.
i cant believe nobody ever burnt 120 gigs of rars and zips before.

I can believe it... too much of a pain in the rear. There is no tool that can do that for you that I am aware of. I imagine you could write your own batch (classic batch or vb script) that captures what you need to optical media off of your hard drive, you'd have to do it in a way that constantly scanned output logs of what was destined to go to each disc... then you could generate ISO's based off of the output and then burn your ISO's one at a time.

I personally feel it is cheaper and more reliable to store data on multiple hard drives. I really see no point in adding compression to the files either. Another secure option would be using TrueCrypt and making mountable containers and moving your files into them. Then burn those containers to your media. I'll stress I am not a fan of archiving data for long term storage on optical media.

Like SithTracy said, your best bet is to use a hard drive. You could write a one line script using Robocopy that will do what you want.

Otherwise I did find a few programs that might work. This one will split a folder into folders the size of a DVD.

I also came across a program called SyncBack. The freeware version will write to DVD's if they're UDF format.

That looks like a pretty cool program.

i found a serial for syncback pro.. it was ok but does not allow burn speed selection so thumbs down..
BTB is basically same as binchunker.. programs that just divvy up the burn jobs but dont offer burning service.

so my research has told me that the feature i seek are

1. mirror - to avoid compression or packaging into a file format that is proprietary and possibly
difficult to restore especially if series broken.
2. speed selection- full speed is prone to error either my burner or firmware or cheap media but its paid for so i'm using it.
3. no split -i found it and the other features offered finally in Backup4all Pro. giving it a try tonight

please let me know if i missed those feature in nero or the other backup proggies hiding in commandline options etc. or wherever.
