I have just been given a Samsung sw-216 and Nero v5 software.
I have fitted the CDR and windows seems to have detected the drive fine, I then installed Nero 5 and when I tried to open it I got the error "Nero has caused an error in cdrom.dll. Nero will now close" or something like that. When I try to open it again it comes up with a warning "InCD currently accesses one or more recorders. Please eject these CD's and restart Nero afterwards"
There are no CD's in the drives and I can't find anything on the Ahead website to help me.
I am a bit of a newbie to this sort of stuff and need help!
Any suggestions?

Uninstall InCD from add remove programs in the control panel, and upgrade your nero to version 5.5.7.8 from the following link below.

Sorry I don't have an answer.
I have the same problem. Usually, if I have many open IE sessions or if Nero "freezes" and I use Task Manager to End Task.
At this point, I get the same message as you. At this point I must reboot W2K in order to use Nero again.
I even renamed InCD to InCDxxx.exe so it will not load at startup; but regardless of inserting/removing media and/or leaving CD carrier open, reboot is my only recourse.
Somebody once suggested hold down combinations of <ctrl><shift><alt> while Nero is loading, but that made no diff either....
Currently using some older flavor of Nero 5 - (cannot tell precisely which version until I reboot again), but it is NOT the newest. I've DL Nero5524, but have not yet installed it.
Would appreciate any suggestions ?

I see that Nero551054 is more current - I guess I better upgrade to that instead.

In Most cases, when this occurs with versions of Nero 5.5, it's because of a CDROM Reader driver loading in your Config.sys and Autoexact.bat with the CDROM name. Just rename it to CDROM1 and this will resolve the problem.
