Nero won't recognize my Sony CRX195E1

I just purchased the Sony CRX195E1 CD-R/RW 40x/12x/48x...everything went fine, until I decided I was actually gonna use it...I launched Nero, and popped up with the choose recorder box, with only "Virtual device" as a selection. Sure, the program that came with the burner recognizes it, but B(itche)'s Recorder gold is, at least in my opinion, a P.O.S. compared to Nero...have any suggestions? or should I just try Roxio instead?

you can transform your Sony 195 --> LiteOn 48125W with firmware VS08

or use Nero >= 5.5.8.2

It sounds like your copy of Nero came bundled with another manufacturer's drive. Is that so? If that is the case, then your copy of Nero is limited to work with just the original drive.

If you are still interested in using Nero with your new Sony, try uninstalling your existing version of Nero and installing the free demo version of Nero from www.nero.com. That ought to work. If it does, then you have to decide if you like Nero that much better than B's Recorder Gold to pay for the full retail version.

Nero does list the 195A1 as a supported drive:

http://www.nero.com./en/content2/recorderS.html#SONY

I believe that the 195E1 is simply the OEM version of the 195A1, so you shouldn't have any problems.

Hey I have a CRX195E1 too and Nero recognized it perfectly at once
As for adaptec's Easy CD dont use it . It is really worthless.
The drive itself works really well.
try after downloading a new version of nero .

Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of Nero 5.5.9.17 first, as that may be all you need.

If you do have a Nero OEM bundle, then it is limited to the model recorder it came with. But you can purchase an upgrade from OEM bundle to Retail for $19 US dollars from the Nero web site at www.nero.com and this will allow Nero to work with all model recorders.
