did anyone notice that It includes Nero DriveSpeed version 1.61 and Nero InfoTool version 1.03.3? These are newer than those available on cdspeed2000.com.

I like the new icon too :)

Yes, I have had InfoTool 1.03.3 and Drive Speed 1.61 since ordering a serial number for my OEM and upgrading it to 5.5.10 two weeks ago tonight.

These must have been inserted into Nero 5.5.10 well after it was released. Since most people had already downloaded this and it wasn't mentioned on the website, it probably wasn't noticed.

Does this new Nero update also update Nero Express to 5.5.10.7?

of course, nero express is nero, you can't just get nero express, its just a front end gui system to nero burning engine

I only bought the serial number to upgrade the OEM version of Nero that I had. I had no clue what version of InfoTool or Drive Speed that I was getting as I hadn't used them before. I was simply making an observation.

$19.99 is not too bad for such a great program anyway.

That's great that someone gave it to you as a gift. But what does that have to do with taxman150's purchase? Surely you aren't proudly proclaiming that you stole your serial number, and suggesting others do the same?

You have made your decisions, and taxman150 made his. Why not just leave it at that? Personally, I respect taxman150 for his honesty and his decision to pay for what he uses. Yes, I know that stolen serial numbers can be downloaded on the net. But just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something.

In any event, there is no need to belittle taxman150 for living his life according to a code of morals that precludes stealing. Leave the personal attacks out of the forums.

Well, to me it read with a strong tone of belittling. To paraphrase: "HAHA, I got mine for free and you paid $20". It sounds like you are implying he’s a sucker. But if I misinterpreted, I apologize.

I didn't mean to start a war of words here by responding to Hoxlund's comments. I respect his right to make whatever comments he wants to make about purchasing or not purchasing Nero. I merely wanted to clarify that I was not trying to brag that I had the latest updates to InfoTool or Drive Speed for the past 2 weeks when I downloaded 5.5.10. I didn't know what the latest version of these programs were and if I had noticed, I would have posted to the group immediately to share with others. It only came up in a different post when I was reporting a problem I was having with InfoTool and gave the version number so people would know which version I was using.

Regarding paying the $20 - that is a personal decision and I don't regret it one bit. Others may have a different opinion and that's fine. I don't plan on imposing my opinions on others. I'm just here to learn and share when possible.

Cfitz - thank you for your kind comments. I appreciate it.

Regards,

Don't worry about it, taxman150. You didn't start anything. You were simply sharing what you knew, based on your own experience, in response to dhc014's question. There is nothing wrong with that. It is what these forums are for.

Also, while it is commendable of you to respect other's rights to make whatever comments they wish to make about purchasing or not purchasing, those rights aren't without bound. In a timely coincidence, Ian just posted some rules for behavior in the forums, and points 3 and 7 address just this situation: no name calling or attacks, and no advocating of cracks/key-gens/warez.

So, you weren't wrong to defend your post either.

Hoxlund isn't new here, and he isn't an inveterate offender. I imagine he just tossed out that short "HAHA" post without thinking too much. I didn't like to see it, but would have left it go (in the same spirit of not wanting to get into something) had hoxlund not compounded the misstep with his follow-up post. At that point I felt that some response was needed.

Hoxlund has since said he didn't intend to be rude, and he hasn't made a habit of being rude, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt and characterize my replies as reminders to craft posts carefully so as not to be misunderstood. We all do that from time to time.
