Hi,
After I installed the new 5.5.10.7b update can’t burn anything.
Nero reports burning process completed successfully but the CD stays empty.
I tried burning six different CD’s all the same result.

I’d appreciate any help.

n00b question, but do you have the "Simulation" box checked?

Also, turn over the disc and look at the bottom side to see if looks like anything was actually burned.

Can't see any burning marks.

Then the next thing I would try is to roll back to the previous version of Nero that was working successfully for you. If that fixes things, then submit a bug report to Nero. If not, report back and we will try to think of something else.

Just did. I went back to 5.5.9.17

Two things:

1. Have you made any other changes recently that might account for the problem?

2. Have you tried a different burning program to rule out the drive as a source of the problem?

Okay, three things actually:

3. Did you completely clean out the 5.5.10.7b installation before reinstalling 5.5.9.17? I believe Nero has a cleaner program that they will send you if you ask technical support:

You might also want to try the registry checker program, although I don't think it will help since it is designed to address the problem of disappearing drives:

I can't recall any changes I made on my system recently.
I cleaned out everything from the registry before I went back to the old version.
I checked "InCD" it works perfectly.

This may be a problem that Nero tech support needs to look at. But before you do that could you post the log from one of the (non)burns?

what version of Nero did you have (and was working properly?) before 5.5.10.7b?
was it 5.5.10.7? and the problems started after you installed the "b" patch?
or 5.5.10.0?
or 5.5.9.17?

I have to tell you Nero is working again.

The problem started after I installed 5.5.10.7.
When I went back to 5.5.9.17 the problem didn’t go away.

After search found this on my system.
5.5.10.7 Installed “Adaptec”. Why? I don’t know. Before I went back to 5.5.9.17 forgot to delete the registry entries for that.
(This is the only thing I can think of why the older version didn’t work)
In "Event Viewer" I noticed many error massages.
They were all "10005" complaining about "IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service" is not enabled.
I had this service disabled for Nero fast start up. It didn’t cause any problem up to 5.5.10.0

I updated Nero to 5.5.10.7b.
I changed the “IMAPI…” to manual because Nero starts needs this service.
No more error massages.
I can burn CD’s now.

I love Nero again.

That much I can tell you.
