hi forum does anyone know if i can upgrade my ddr from pc2100...to pc2700/3200 as i cannot get the spec for my motherboard...

Go to http://www.msi.com.tw .And search for your model name.You will find everything related to that motherboard.It is a very good site.

cant find it in MSI's website.
search for "6579" - 0 matches.
possibly wrong model number???

Go to www.crucial.com and use their "memory upgrades" and select "more manufacturers".

You could use sisoftware sandra to find out the motherboard information once istalled you can use the motherboard information tool to look up supported memory. The standard version is a free download it just has some of the tools disabled. It will give the model number, revision number , chipset number, ect.

my pc is a advent 3411..which according to the advent site my m/b is a microstar 6579 board..i will try sis sandra and see if that helps thanks,,,

hi used sissoft sandra.....it tells me my mother board is as follows
MSI,,,Mps version 1.40
model-MS-6579
FSB speed 4x133Mhz (532Mhz data rate)
max fsb speed/max memory 4x133mhz/2x133mhz
2 memory slots etc

what does this mean..i have 1 pc2100 x512mb dim can i upgrade to pc 2700 ddr ???????????????????

The manual for that m/b says you can use PC1600/2100 DDR. You can download a manual at: http://www.elhvb.com/mboards/Intel/HP.html

Sandra also reports the same thing.
max fsb speed/max memory 4x133mhz/2x133mhz

2x133mhz = DDR266 = PC2100
