Some of my cds have music in the pre-track (when the cd player shows minus time countdown). But when I try to extract it with Musicmatch, it skips that part. How do I extract that part?

Welcome to CDRLabs! :D

Unfortunately, I don't know how to extract the pre-track. I tried ripping some tracks from a CD that I have with pre-tracks, but my ripping program ignored them, too. Does the music in the pre-track get copied if you make a copy of one of your discs?

I am not sure if the pre-track gets copied when I copy the whole disc because I have never tried to copy a disc with music in the pre-track. But I will try it. Thanks for the reply.

You're welcome. I will be interested to hear what happens when you copy the entire disc.

I used Prassi PrimoDVD to copy the disc that had a song in the pre-track (The X-Files - songs in the key of X). I tried various CD players and some rewound into the pre-track but there was no music and some could not rewind into the pre-track at all (even on the original CD). This probally does'nt matter but the reader I used is a Toshiba SD-R1202 and the writer is a Pioneer DVR-105. I'm not sure if the hardware or software had more to do with being able to copy the pre-tracks. What do you think?

If you do a DAO copy, it should copy the disc as is, including the
"pre-tracks".
Not sure if TAO would work though...
