I am using my current case, 52x32x52x LiteOn burner, 12x Aopen DVD rom, 2 120GB 8mb cache hard drives, 64MB Asus Ti4200

Then this machine will have left in it: an 8x yamaha burner, a 20 gig 7200 RPM hard drive, an ATI Rage 128 16 mb PCI card, 512 SDRAM.

Don't worry, I will get another video card soon.
Before I purchase, what does everyone think?

EDIT: The Motherboard is not for sure. I might get Abit, Epox, Aopen or Asus.

If you plan to overclock don't forget to include a decent cooling system to your package.

I might get the cooling system at the local store, especially if that counts as "new computer hardware" to qualify for a oem os purchase

I think that any piece of computer hardware counts for buying OEM software, so your heatsink should count.

Skip the 2.4C, get the 2.6C - it's only $169 at newegg right now!

As for the mobo, Abit & Asus are great! I have an MSI, which has a neat "dynamic overclocking" ability - it only OC's the cpu when the cpu load is over 90% or so. However, it can't lock the PCI/AGP bus speeds

Oh, even the little power cable splitters will qualify you for the OEM Windows. Newegg has 'em free w/any MS purchase!

I'd skip the OCZ, get some Kingston Hyper-X.

as for the 2.4c vs the 2.6c, the 2.4c is better for overclocking.
XP Home OEM, not buying from newegg since I have Credit at a local store but that local store doesnt have P4's

The 2.4 is a great over clocker reaching between 3.0-3.2 on air cooling, but the 2.6C also does this easily with a less agressive overclock. But hey it's your choice. I'm sure you love it with either proc. :D

Keep in mind they're basically the exact same CPU, just locked at different speeds. That's why you can OC to >3GHz. And as Silentbob343 said, it'd be a less aggressive OC. Just my $0.02...

But not all of them will OC well!! Mine runs hot as hell (~47C idle!). Yes, I need a new fan. But I don't really care, since I can't lock the PCI/AGP bus speeds, I'm not going to OC.

And here's another vote for the Kingston HyperX memory! I gotta order me about 4 sticks of the 512MG, 433Mhz memory when the $ becomes available

Plus a Gigabyte 875 mobo...plus a 3.2GHz P4 - Prescott version, of course! Can't believe the prices on those things! Cheaper than the "C"'s! Can't wait for 'em to hit the streets...

I'm goin with the 2 pack of 256 MB PC3700 (466Mhz)
It's to go with the asus P4P800 Deluxe that takes DDR400, but as I O/C the processor It will bring the Memory clock and since a 1/1 clock ratio is better, I am going with PC3700 for headroom.

Get an ABIT motherboard.

About that Kingston HyperX, I plan on building a Lexan case (Clear) and I am wondering if that stuff has any LEDs on it.
