If you originally had a 20Gb drive and you now have 3GB unallocated then if you start up the Partition Magic program it should be listing your drive as 17Gigabyte formatted and 3gb unallocated.
You would therefore need to select the 17Gb drive and select "Resize"
You then follow the Wizard to resize it back to 20Gb.
It shouldnt matter if you already have an operating system on the 17gb of the drive as Partition Magic can deal with this.
It is usually recommended that you run Windows defragmenter on the drive before you carry out this operation as I believe it cleans up any bits that have got scattered about on the drive.
Defragmenter on Win 98/XP is
Start/Programs/Accesories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter
Obviously this is a sweaty old business so make sure you back up anything important first!!!!
I don't know what the warning message about memory is about ?
good luck
