I've got an Harddisk 80gb WD, a CD-R 52x32x52x Lite-On and a CD-ROM 52x Asus drive. I want to know which should be primary or secondary, master or slave, to get the best performance while WRITING and at the same time while CD-ROMs are ideal.
Put in mind, the Harddisk using Ultra ATA Cable whereas the Cd drives don't .. Think its an easy question but its always good to learn :)

well im assuming you have 2 ide ports, why not just put your hard drive on primary master
then litey cd/rw on secondary master, and asus 52x cd-rom as secondary slave

Question: If you connect the CD-R and CD-Rom on the same channel, can you record directly from CD-Rom to the CD-R? And if one was to connect the CD-Rom as slave on the Primary, will this slow down the HD or CD-Rom or both.

>>Yes, but the performance will not be very good.

>>As long as you have a CD-ROM that supports DMA (almost all do these days) it probably won't be a problem.
