I had a rare opportunity to buy a US$500 AGP card for half market price but I decided to choose NF3 motherboard instead because it had four SATA channels onboard.

I'll probably buy a 6800 this year if the price is about US$150.

Is there anyway you can update the firmware or flash your video card for better performance?

No. Some people did with GeForce 5900->5950, Radeon 9700->9700Pro and a few other video cards in the past, but there's a great chance of damaging permanently.

Yeah, true. People can argue otherwise, however usually the speed you get from OC is meager comparing to the chances of frying the cards in the long / short run.
