Hello!

What´s the faster card, the 6600GT or 6800LE? I´m looking for benchmarks that compare this cards.

I heard that you can unlock the 6800LE and make them fast like a 6800, is that right?

Thanks

The 6600GT AGP will be a better bet. The 6800LE is a neutered version of the 6800, with 8 pipelines, as compared to the 12 of the normal 6800 and 16 of the 6800GT and 6800 Ultra. You are probably referring to the unlocking of the 4 pipes in the normal 6800(non-LE) to get 16 and convert it into a 6800GT/Ultra using RivaTuner. Such a hack for the 6800LE is not possible right now.

The 6600GT's memory clock is also higher than the 6800LE. Performance is better on the 6600.

As for 6600GT vs. 6800 non-ultra, they tend to be similar until you start loading the cards down by turning on AA/AF and going to high resolutions; at that point the GeForce 6800 non-ultra leads the two cards in performance.

bhair's post is entirely correct. In addition, not every Geforce 6800 non-ultra will do the softmod well. I can unlock the additional four pipelines on mine, but I get graphics corruption during 3DMark05. It's a gamble, not a freebie. Even so, the GeForce 6800 non-ultra still has twelve pipelines as opposed to the eight of the 6800LE and 6600GT.

Thanks for all answers :)

My friend bought a 6800LE from Gainward because the shop didn´t have any 6600GT AGP.

But I read on a german site (chip.de) that some 6800LE can also be unlocked with a software (Riva Tuner?). Maybe he test it
