What would cause a monitor to not come out of stand-by? I have tried hooking up another tower to it but it does the same thing.
It is a HP Pavillion mx75 that is not quite 2 yrs old and has just started this in the past 2 weeks. When you hit the space bar it tries to come out and the power button will turn green but after a couple of seconds goes back into standby. I have ended up forcing the computer to reboot to get it back up but I hate to do this.
Is there a way to keep it from going into standby at all? I want to get another monitor but that will have to wait until the first of the year.

You are very lucky you got Two Years from your MX 75; I got 15 months and the CRT tube blew. I bought the extended warranty from Best Buy and they replaced it with a View Sonic. The Tech's said "HP monitors were junk," and they were willing to give me another HP, MX 75, but they recommended I take the View Sonic, so I wouldn't have to come back. At Best Buy they don't even repair CRT monitots, they throw them in the trash!
