Adaptec ACS-100
Posted: Mon Apr 11, 2005 11:36 pmJust in case anyone was looking for a slim hard drive enclosure, take a look at the Adaptec ACS-100. The case is about 1.5 in. thick, 4 in. wide, and 8 in. long. It allows you to convert any internal drive (upto 1000GB) into a mobile drive. Real nice and eventhough it has no fan, the case remains cool. It was easy to install with no problems. I currently have installed a WD-160GB and access to the drive seems to be fast. I transferred about 1.2GB to it and it was done rather quickly.
Now, I'm no expert nor have I done any intensive testing, but it seems to a great little gadget that works great if you want an inexpensive solution to a neat mobile hard drive.
I bought mine a BB for 49.99 and got the WD-160 internal for 109.99 (it has a 90.00 rebate) and after rebate total cost of 70.00 for a 160GB mobile HD. Not bad?
