SATA Card That Works With Optical Drives?

Posted: Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:17 pmI have read that the Adaptec 1210SA and 1220SA cards support ODD very well. But Adaptec cards can be pricey... There is one from Silicon Image that supposedly works well too, I just can't recall the chipset... in the office right now so my searches are "monitored"

At the moment I use without problems a Plextor PX-760SA burner
connected to this Promise SATA300 TX2plus PCI card
on an an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe mainboard.
PROMISE Sata300 TX2plus
This PCI card has 2 Serial ATA connexions + 1 Ultra ATA/133 connexion

Posted: Thu Sep 27, 2007 8:26 pmI just dusted off my old game machine and used that. It's got an Intel chipset that works fine with all optical SATA drives.
Posted: Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:44 pmIan, I would recommend Adaptec, 3ware, LSI, Acera or Intel. The lower end cards may give problems in compatibility with some optics and HD's as well.
