Can anyone suggest a good EIDE to SATA converter ?

I'd like to keep using my EIDE BENQ DVD writers (1640 and 1655) and connect them to a SATA motherboard or SATA PCI card using SATA cable....

I know that some converters work with hard drives but not with optical drives.

Any suggestions ?

I have one that changes the IDE on my CD-RW to USB and then a $10 PCI USB card with four external and one internal slots. I got this because the IDE to SATA at the time were not reliable for opticals.
Look on newegg at the user's reviews to see which ones work.

That one has worked on a few drives I tried it with. It does claim to support opticals on the packaging and is cheap enough. It didn't come with all the extra power adapters but as long as your only doing 1 or 2 drives you should have enough plugs if your PSU is up to date. I mostly used mine so I could use my old IDE HD's on my newer Board that has more SATA ports then IDE, I try to keep the opticals on the ide ports when possible. These things seem to work great with HD's so far. I think if you find one with the same chipset these use it should work just as well for you.
