Need Feedback On Canon PowerShot A590 Camera

My current camera has been dropped too many times and is having problems turning on. As a replacement, I'm considering the Canon PowerShot A590. I've read the various reviews and while its not the best camera out there, its pretty decent for the price. Does anyone own this camera? If so, what are your thoughts?

I'm open to other suggestions as well. I'd like to keep the price around $200 and it has to be easy enough for my wife to use.

Recent dSLR convert myself (Olympus E-510). Had a Canon PowerShot S40 some years ago and had my share of film Canon cameras. I had a love/hate relationship with them all. For my Point and Shoot needs today I have a FujiFilm F50fd. Wife pretty much uses the heck out of it. She loves the face detection technology for red-eye removal. I have to admit it is pretty cool for a P&S.

You could check out dpreview.com's forums for some owners of the Canon feedback, but often you will get a lot of fanboy responses. BuyDig.com has the Canon A590 for about $150. IS is a nice thing to have with those little cameras. I have large hands and like to have a good grip. My previous camera was a FujiFilm S9100 bridge/superzoom. My Dad took that one from me.

Fuji cams produce some outstanding color with their SuperCCD cameras, but not all that they sell have the SuperCCD.

Ian:
www.dcresource.com has a review up. Looks to be a good little camera.

Thanks guys. My old PowerShot stopped working altogether last night so I ordered an A590. Butterfly Photo had it for $149 with free shipping which was a lot better than the $180+tax that the stores around here wanted.

You can't go wrong with a Canon. They are great cameras. I too just bought a PowerShot a few days ago. I bought the SD950 IS to replace my S410 PowerShot.

I finally got my A590 IS. It works great so far. The new modes (especially the kid one) and the face recognition are great. It's a lot like our old camera too so my wife has no problems using it.
