I want to upgrade my video card .

I'm thinking either GeForce 4Ti 4600 or ATI Radeon 9700 Pro .

Which one is better ?

GeForce 4Ti 4600 cost about U$ 200

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro cost about U$ 300

I know that ATI perform better but some websites claims that 9700 not doing so well in bump maping & low fillrate .

But it does support Directx 9 that will be used in future games such as Doom 3 .

If you can afford it definitely go for the Radeon 9700 Pro. It is twice as fast as the GeForce 4 Ti 4600 running FSAA at high resolutions and is faster in every single test by a substantial margin. At the moment, supporting DirectX9 isn't great as games that use it won't be around for atleast a year; but the 9700 will future proof you against games for years to come. You need a minimum of a 300W power supply though and a seperate supply for the card itself.

If you shop around (especially online) you can probably find the Radeon at around $250.

Both the Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 and ATI Radeon 9700 Pro are nice graphics cards. I would go for the one that you can afford. I can't say for sure if the Radeon 9700 Pro is worth the extra $100, since I've never used one before. It basically boils down to how much money you want to spend and if you prefere Nvidia or ATI products. Either one is a good choice and its a win, win situation.

Get the new Tyan R9700 Pro with dx9 rc0 and the Radeon dx9 drivers.

With the Radeon you must play around with the aniso and fsaa setting, how high you can set those settnings and still get a decent fps.
The ti-4600 is to slow to get high aniso\fsaa levels in games
