PowerNow! Problem...

Got a stupid little problem with powernow on my laptop...I can't get it to work. I've downloaded the PowerNow Dashboard software from the AMD website, and it says that although an AMD proc w/PowerNow is present, that I need to install the AMD PowerNow software from www.amd.com.

Thing is, I can't find anything else on the AMD website. I've downloaded the driver pack and it says there are no amd products installed.

I have the K7 sys driver installed that Compaq supplied.

Any ideas?

Oh, the OS is Win2K, not XP. The system came with XP installed, and it took me, oh, 30 seconds to erase the drive and start 2K's installer.

Looks like you have to get it from the company that made your laptop:

AMD PowerNow! Dashboard Release Notes wrote:Windows 98SE, ME, and 2000:
Under these operating systems, AMD PowerNow! Software is needed for the system to take advantage of the power-saving capabilities. If you have an AMD Athlon or Duron processor with PowerNow! capability (usually laptops and Small Form Factor machines), check the OEM software which came with your system for the AMD PowerNow! Software for that system, or check directly with the OEM.

(from http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Pro ... 96,00.html )

Have you tried Windows Update? It probably won't help, but you never know. PowerNow! support is available for XP via Wndows Update.
