Wierd RAM startup error
Posted: Tue Jan 21, 2003 4:09 amI have a 5 year old PC that has an AMD k6-233mhz processor. I bumped the RAM from 32 MB to 96 MB, buy taking two 32MB SIMM EDO RAM chips from a friend who no longer needed them.
Everytime when I cold-start the PC I get a "Memory check failure" in the boot screen. I then resart the PC and the RAM checks out okay (and Winodws ME recognizes total RAM as 96 MB), and I have no problems thereafter, until I shut off the PC and cold-start it again.
Anyone have any clue as to why this is?
