The crucial has faster memory I think so it's a little faster...

Crucial got high marks for their board. Make sure you tweak the memory a bit higher than normal to take advantage of their components.

I remember that the Crucial 8500 based board had bad memory on it. Everyone was surprised that a company known for memory would do this. Now they've gotten their act together.

I also took a look at that Crucial 9700 Pro. It's funny how a company renowned for making quality ram didn't even put their own ram on that 9700.

I was in doubt so I got the real thing instead.

Maybe ATI didn't allow Crucial to use their own Micron memory. If memory serves, all Radeon cards use either Samsung or Hynix memory...maybe Infineon too?

Perhaps ATI is being tightwad with not letting Crucial use their own ram in the 9700. I think the ATI is using Samsung ram.

It would have been nice to see Crucial or Mushkin ram in viddy cards to compare with Samsung ram.

I've never really heard bad things about Samsung ram. In fact, I hear good things generally.

memory on graphics cards is quite a bit faster than "regular" memory.

i'm no expert, but i can't recall ever reading a review of a memory card on which the memory chips were Micron. Samsung, Infineon are the brands i recall i saw quite frequently.
possibly Micron don't specialize in that kind of memory.
