Would you buy one of AMD's new Barton CPU's?

The specs look good on it. I might consider it for my next upgrade (after the prices come down some) and I feel that my XP1800 chip doesn't cut it anymore. Is it available in the U.S. yet?

Thanks for the link BuddhaTB. The price is better than I though it might be. I found a good review on the Barton 3000 at
http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/barton/3000plus.htm

Now I have to decide if a Barton is in my future or do I hold out for the Hammer.

I'm a new happy user of a P4 2.53. I have heard terrible things about the Barton 3000+. It simply does not compare to the P4. The P4 is way better.

hey aviationwiz - don't just diss a product like that. Check out the reviews at anandtech.com and hardocp.com . They indicate that the Barton is pretty competitive with the P4 @ 3.06Ghz + HT. They pretty much cream that 2.53.

here you go - posting some benchmarks

(P4 always does better than AMD on these multimedia benchmarks)

Seems like AMD will be releasing a 400MHz FSB Barton CPU.
