Thinking of buying one of these for my older desktops.... I can find it for under 60 on the web but just wasnt sure as to whether or not it performs just as well as the adaptec cards... Any help would be appreciated

I think this card should be good. Just make sure it comes with drivers for whatever OS your using. However, if you can find the Adaptec for cheaper, go with that. But Belkin is a good brand.
