I would check all of your cable connectors and jumpers on the motherboard before jumping to the conclusion that your motherboard might be dead. Make sure they are set correctly and the connections are tight. Also check to make sure the video card is all the way into the agp slot if you don't have onboard video.

What's the make and model of your motherboard?

Did you kill your mobo? Sounds like you injured it. If it was dead you wouldn't get it to run at all.

It's a very common mishap. You should look for the acrewdriver scratch and examine it with a magnifying glas. If you see any shiny metal color in it, you've damaged a lead. It usually can be repaired by professionals. Ask your vendor.

I have your same problem with my mobo, I recently purchased a XP 2100+, I sent it back to replace it and they sent me a model 8 (0.13 microns) version. My ECS K7VTA3 v2.x supports model 6 (0.15 microns) but the model 8 not. I don't get video signal and my keyboard's num lock key doesn't work. You should go to amd's site and check if your mobo supports your cpu:

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Pro ... 8_756_3734^4348^7923,00.html

You should also check your power supply, sometimes the psu doesn't provides enough mA to support the CPU.

PS: copy/paste the link don't click it.

I think you better say where you are mate, I suspect an address in Lapland might not suite you :D
Usually the place you bought it can arrange it for you, or at least give you the address.
