Mobo for XP 2100+ (0.13)

I recently purchased a XP 2100+, I sent it back to replace it and they sent me a model 8 (0.13 microns) version. My ECS K7VTA3 v2.x supports model 6 (0.15 microns) but the model 8 not. I don't get video signal and my keyboard's num lock key doesn't work.

What should I do? Buy a new mobo or another cpu for my current mobo.

How about sending it to me? I'll send you a well used XP1600+ in exchange. :D

No seriously.. according to this page, you should be able to use it with the new 2.2 firmware:

I think the whole firmware thing for burners has sunk into Ians head.

Motherboards use BIOS, not firmware. I think Ian needs a nice short break.

I vote for the well deserve vacations for Ian too. Lets all contribute and send him some money.

Yeah but check the PCB version, I have v2.x and the firmware (bios) is for k7VTA2. I will check with another cpu to confirm that my mobo is working if it isn't then my mobo is ^*&*& up from trying to put that dam heatsink, they shuold try to come up with a better way to hook does clip to the mobo. Thanks anyway Ian.

About the 1600+ if you make me a good offer I might buy it.

Strictly speaking, BIOS is firmware, so Ian wasn't inaccurate.

That makes me think, how can the K7VTA2 which has a lower chipset (via kt266 vs kt266a) and the same FSB support 0.13 micron CPUs and the K7VTA3 v2.x not? Is this merely do to the bios?

Is there any tool that helps me compare the bios?
