Sony External USB1.0 4x4x6, which I don't use anymore. The slowest one that I still use is a TDK 12x10x32, which is on my bro's computer.

It's a little enclosure into which you put your CD, and then put the whole assembly into the CD drive. It is kind of like a jewel case you put into the drive:

How about this then.

How many people actually own a CD-R only burner? Not the CDRW's we have now.

Apologies to LiteOnGuy for the thread hijack.

Hey, no problem Action Jackson! I too would be interested to know how many people still have CD-R drives.

My beloved Mitsumi CR-2600TE! 2x write (TAO only) and 6x read! Manufactured Aug 1997 and purchased by my good self fairly soon thereafter.

According to Mitsumi:
The first in the world to adopt the Enhanced IDE(ATAPI) interface

Highly reliable 2x write, and the world's fastest 6x read as an E-IDE-compatible CD-R drive
Mitsumi's CD-R drive is transforming the data storage environment.

My first burner and not a piece of gear that I'm in a hurry to part with; it's provided me with sterling service over the past few years - but relegated to a backup role now. At one time, I'd tried my hardest to run it into the ground (feeble excuse for buying an upgrade!) - but it refused to die, despite doing many, many discs! Fireburner enabled me to cope with BIN/CUE images just fine, and a firmware upgrade enabled me to do 80min discs too.
I mostly use a couple of x16 burners now - the LiteOn 16102B.

Wow, eFrisky! :o

I know what you mean; I have a 2x Mitsumi CD-ROM (from 1993) that still works! Those things were built really solidly; far better build quality than any optical drive I've seen in the last 5 or so years.
