Get a manual Ferrari instead.

A manual is nice if you're planning on pulling a trailer or something. It's also pretty nice if you plan to take your truck off road.

As someone that owns a car with a manual transmission, its fine if you do a lot of highway driving but it would get old very soon if I had to do a lot of city driving where the traffic was bumper to bumper.

i live in the bay area and their plenty of traffic here, and all i drive is stick. I think one thing might be gas could be saved if you drive it properly

I've heard that automatic transmission these days has been improved, so manual vehicles don't get better mileage than automatic anymore. At least that's what they told me when I took Driver's Ed.

I disagree. I've been 4 wheeling for many years, all with an auto and it will always be so. Once you are beyond the domain of the 2WDs, you will find your self shifting more than in city traffic. You are continually varying your speed to go around obstacles, in and out of washes, around and over rocks.

Yeah, I've heard it both ways. Most of the guys I know use a manual though.

As far as manual being more fun.. hell yeah!

Manual is not always fun or practical.

I used own softtop Jeep Wrangler. Manual is not very fun if you are stuck in traffic. Although I did get lots of attention when I was driving without a top.

But I get even more attention with my Lexus and the ride is very smooth.

Get an automatic.

You can drive with manual everywhere. I have never driven with automatiac transmission, they're very rare in Europe.

I second that.
I have been driving manual transmission cars for most of my driving years (drove dad's automatic for a little while first), and it is so much more fun, especially if you have (relatively) high horsepower and torque, which makes it even more fun :)

With manual I just feel more in control of acceleration, while going around curves or by using engine braking etc.

I agree that in bumper to bumper traffic automatic is much better,
but for open road driving nothing beats a stick :)

The new Tiptronic (my brother has it in his new car), is a great compromise between the two. It allows you to shift up and down like a manual without the need for a clutch!!! It also has fully automatic mode.
